Gran Concorso di Cucina 2017: The Winners

For the first time in its history, the victory of the 8th edition of Tokyo’s Gran Concorso di Cucina went to a non-Japanese chef. On 4th December, the thirty-year-old Sri Lankan Sampath Bandara from the Hilton Tokyo Odaiba hotel climbed to the top step.

The jury of the competition, held at Tokyo Gas Chu-bo Shiodome, evaluated the skills of 8 chefs. Divided into two groups, the chefs tried their hand at preparing a first course and a second course in an hour. The winner Sampath Bandara won an Alitalia ticket, a correspondence course offered by Hayashi Wine, as well as a five-day experience at the International School of Italian Cuisine in Lucca.
